A file number is the number your clinic gives each patient's file. Doctecq can create these automatically, and keep a separate running series for each branch.
The three parts
When you set up a patient location you give it:
- A name (for example, Andheri).
- A prefix (for example, AND).
- A starting file number (for example, 1000).
The next patient registered at that branch gets AND1001, then AND1002, and so on. A second branch (BOR2001, BOR2002) keeps its own count. This mirrors the paper files clinics already keep per branch.
Custom numbers
Sometimes a doctor wants a specific patient on a particular number. During quick registration you can type the file number yourself — the branch counter then continues from the number you typed. This is intended, for those special cases.
